I can't help it........but it IS comic relief day

One thing that always makes me laugh on here,is when people say "You're rubbish.Me and my mate are gonna start a Guild."
Now....it does'nt make me laugh because i'm a spiteful person who likes to see people fall on thier butts,and it does'nt make me laugh because i think we're better than all the other Guilds.I know for a fact,we're VERY far down the list.
What makes me laugh,is that they just don't realise what you have to do just to get a Guild up and running.Let alone keep it going.
Most people start with the cape.Fair enough,you've got a cape.Do you know how silly you sound when you recruit and say "Join my Guild.We got a cape,Guildhall coming soon"? That makes thier Guild sound like the 2.30 train from New Cross,.....Coming soon...lol.
Okay....on to the finances.First,you'll need about 21k for a Guildhall,then around 500 to 600 k to get all the traders and merchants and stuff.I hate seeing people begging in Ascalon for money to buy a Guildhall.If you won't go out and get the money yourself,then you won't have the committment to run a Guild.IF....just if you manage that,you'll need Officers.A lot of guilds recruit officers.Why?....because they don't really care or understand what an officer is supposed to be there for.Finding good Officers is a pain in the butt.You see something in someone that you think is gonna be good,then they turn out to be the monkeys butt.So then you have to demote them,they leave or get all grotty with you,and then thier friends leave too as a protest.(then they tell you theyre starting a Guild,and it'll be better than yours....lol).
Then you need to be able to help with at least some of the game.Even if you can get someone so far,it's a bonus.
All the time people ask questions.If you or your Officers don't have the answer,you're all in crap city with your members again.
Then of course,you need members.It's all very well thinking all your mates will join,but you can't do a lot with 5 people can you?So,you have to recruit.Recruiting is the kind of thing that destroys souls.It's the most thankless task going.The problem is,it's ongoing as people always move on or stop playing,so you have to replace them.Ten members will cost you 1k to sign up,and 9 of them will leave the next day.
The next big thing on the list is faction/rankings.Keeping even the smallest ammount of faction points is hard work.Everyone wants to join a big Guild and own a town,but i don't think they realise it means you have to go out and get about 10k faction every day to keep your guild at the top of the tree.Do you really want to spend all your free time running round with a load of buttmonkeys shouting "CAP! CAP YOU NOOBS!!"
I certainly dont.
Then there's the Alliance.Want to get your Guild into a neat Alliance?First you have to buy Factions,get to Cavalon,then find someone who runs an Alliance who is'nt a power crazy Faction freak.
Got some nice weapons? Been saving them up to sell or for a rainy day? FORGET IT!! The first thing most new people will do is ask if you have something better than theyre using.Then when you give it to them,they'll tell you what a bunch of Noobs you are,and quit to start thier own Guild with 3 of thier mates......lol.
When we first started out,we hardly slept,we recruited like demons and we tried to get money like there was no tomorrow.It's hard work if you want to succeed.We still hav'nt succeeded....it does'nt bother us.But we have been going for nearly 2 years,and in a game where Guilds tend on the whole to last about 24 hours,that's not bad i reckons.
Taking all this into consideration,you can probably see why i laugh when people say "I'm gonna leave this dump and start my own Guild".

Obviously alot of people underestimate the challenge it is to make a guild and maintain it. Alot of people out there are a bunch of selfless buttmonkeys that only think they know "all". I've got the experience of a gamer, meaning i saw alot since i started playing games on my 5 year old! (yes 5 year, then i started playing games) Im telling you that making a descent clan is a pain in the bum. I have been in a sh!tload of clans in other games and i must say: "friends" that help and support you are always welcome, but when the friends get tired of the clan, and they look all to you to make a new one cos the other "sux". Thats when problems start. Alot of people seem to think: Me and my friends can pull it of... your half right. If you are didicated: yes, you can eventualy, add some luck with cool members and your good to go... but faith has its ways of getting the buttmonkeys to come. Mostly the buttmonkeys are small, immature, retarded kids that think they seen all, known all and can do all. I however have never walked the path of being such an annoying buttmonkey. (I gues i was born with more brains than others.) Though i made some mistakes, ive learned from them and i wanna say: If YOU think you can lead a guild and make one (with or without your friends) be my guest and try it. But remember, making enemies with your old guild/clan/ally is not gonna help you. If your "social" network isnt big enough, you'll eventualy come back to your old ally/clan/guild to ask help, advice, ect.

I have been in alot of clans. But one of the most i remember rather well, was Hellspawn clan, in lineage 2. That clan eated my time like crazy. Back then i was still in school, meaning i could only play when i got home till i had to eat. Eventualy even that i couldnt bring up as i like to explore other games. I'll give you an idea how this clan worked. My real life friend, mistique (ex best friend of my brother now) didnt have a life back then, he finished high school and was looking for a job (simular to me now). He woke up, played, farmed, played more, went to sleep, woke up, played and farmed, raided bosses, made parties, ect ect. Eventualy he was so active and addicted he earned the respect of the whole server for knowing so much and for kicking bum bum all the time. Though Hellspawn was hated by almost 99% of the server. We had the best gear (80% of us anyways), highest lvls, we did all, defeating epic raids/bosses, farming them for gear (sorta like trying to farm for green weaps). Hellspawn, only 40 members big ownd the server of 400 + players. It gotten so bad that even when it was siege (the game got castles you can attack (or when you have it, defend it) At a certain point of the game it was Hellspawn VS the server. We had Aden castle (biggest castle) and we defended Aden castle for 2 hours (siege time that is 2 hours) Against an approx ally of enemies 250 man. We came, we saw, we kicked their bum.

You all wonder why im telling you this, the point out of all this is, Hellspawn is one of those clans that eat your time, that force you to work, farm and give up your time for the clan, if you dont sacrifice your time, you wont get rewarded. I in all that time recieved 2 weapons and 4 armor pieces (in 3 years of being in that clan). While mistique gained 100+ on weapons and i lost count of his armors and other stuff.... Hellspawn, was organized, worked well, kicks bum and all that... but it lacked friendly states alot, sure you had a few friends you had fun with, but the organisation of all this, the leaders/subleaders were all a bunch of battle hunger evils. The game is a compitition for them. I see guilds like this in guildwars aswell. Ive seen people going crazy when they didnt farm enough factions and risk getting kicked out for not doing your share right. I mean in a guild with 100 + players, risking to get kicked for not farming enough factions in 1 day?? or getting kicked cos you have been offline for 1 week w/o letting anyone know what happend to you? Online gaming can be realy realy sad sometimes. It sux to see it but it happens. The reason im not in one of those clans anymore is cos i decided its not worth it. I cant spend hours and hours in the same game anymore only with the purpose to farm farm farm farm and help guildmembers which are total worthless buttholes. Or create parties for farming/raidings and i dunno what so ever to score good points with the leaders. That time is behind me, its worth it. I've wasted 3 years of my life in hellspawn and even though it was fun sometimes.. it still consider it a waste.

I came to guildwars thinking i could have peace, fun and lots more w/o having to be pushed arround like in HS. Ive been in few guilds till i ran into Lea's guild. Thank God i did cos this guild has all you'd like, great leader(s), nice guild members, cool allies, friendship, love (in a certain way), people actualy care bout what you do, you dont get kicked for not being online much, ect ect. we even have a nice guildhall, i dont mind much if we do or not, even if we wouldnt have one, i wouldnt leave Lea for that. For me this guild is about the people and the fun. And for all you guys that think: "we can do it better" -> i will kindly show you the exit. But remember... you dont gain anything by making enemies all the time, or by kicking people in the nuts, betaying them or what so ever. For people in the guild that consider leaving cos for example, you wanna go pvp in ab or aspenwood or what so ever, but you dont cos no one in the guild comes along... i mean like: if you realy want someone to come along, Isla is in aspen alot of the times when shes on. I pretty much farm it sometimes till i have to spend 50k factions
I farm alone, sure its fun do it together, but you cant force people to come with you or expect it we feel like doing it all the time. Im sure some of us when were online will gladly come with you but i dont think thats gonna be 100% of the time. If you wanna be donig pvp, pvp, pvp and did i mention pvp?? all the time, go look for a guild that does that 24/7 a week.

Im sure that some that read this might feel offended, or butthurt or i might get posts that im not clear, or i dunno. Im not the best writer in the world, i just write as it comes to mind realy. My spelling blows, my grammar aswell and i most likely sound hostile alot... Keep in mind that i only wanted to drop in my opinion. Its not a law that you have to follow, just an opinion. Share us yours, its nice to read other peoples ideas bout things. It could make me adjust my view.

Yep......like i've said before,forcing people to play everyday and go out and farm etc. just so they can stay in the Guild is really bad news.I wonder if the leaders of those Guilds actually realise that they're playing a game with real people and that they don't all have the time to play 24/7 just so the Guild leaders can own Cavalon or some other place?
This is ultimatly a game.......it should be fun.Lets keep it that way guys,and leave owning monkeybutt Oasis to some other Guild.
I love you guys in our Guild/Alliance,and i (and Isla) am glad we all met up here.You're all Diamonds.

its like my life flashed before my eyes!!!! As im sure Anna and Lea recall TFG were a great guild full of fun people, doin stuff together joking around with some seriously experienced players, they were greatly loyal to me as leader and we'd all known each other a very long time..........perfect one might say. However it took one person who was dishonest and jealous of myself and some of the others to destroy it in one night that i was absent. TFG was and would never return to its former glory. It destroyed me the guild and as im sure Lea and Anna realise i was never the same again. I'd given my heart and soul to TFG and it had been stamped on by someone i had relied on and even cared about, Consequently i had nothing left to give and my interest sadly dwindled. I was always the happy to go anywhere help anyone kind of guy.

This chap went off formed a new guild all my ex guildies told me it was awesome and great that i should drop TFG and join them! (as if). But then eventually the side of the guy i had seen came to the fore, ex guildies started telling me how rude he was how ignorant he was and that i had been the best leader they had ever had. Its true what they say, you dont miss something til its gone. I've never told any of you about any of this, i did talk to Lea about it at the time. You guys in the alliance are great and i was so proud that TFG was so well liked and well represented within the alliance. I know, i know, its just a game but the people i lost were true friends they are now scattered to the four corners of GW and like me some of them seldom play any more. The ones that mattered stay in touch the ones that didnt dont.

We may not be the biggest most successful alliance in GW but we are certainly the friendliest! You guys are great, Im truly sorry that my heart for it all didnt return believe me i tried. Love to you all,

As most of u know the guild i was in before (HOME) went downhill because of one person, one person who i helped over and over. I gave my heart and soul to that guild and like yourself, it all went downhill in a matter of minutes, right before my eyes. That experience made me want to quit the game, but thanks to folks like yourself, Anna, Isla, Steph, Nandi, Prinses and Spawny...i hung in there and (HOME) was born. TGF and (lea), whole alliance to tell the truth, may be a small alliance, but they are the alliance with the biggest and kindest heart...and I have you to thank for leading me here. P.S. Give Steph a big hug for me, like thats gonna be a chore, lol. Laters Bob!

Its good you stay in touch with us Bob you have always been a great support to our guild and have backed me up when we have needed it, we see alot of kev and he is a realy nice guy, I can understand fully why you feel the way you do, I would have been the same, and I felt so bad for Becca and i am happy she is still with us, it would have been very sad to have seen her go and such a waste of a talented player, you are the guru of guildwars Bob and we miss your friendly banter but I also wish you well in what ever you do. Besides you have something very special now and im sure your time is better spent although is nice to see you and steph pop in from time to time. Yep.....TFG's formation dancing rangers.That was the first time i saw you guys,and it blew me away.
As Isla already said,you have something better than GW on the outside now,and thank god for that hun.We will all miss having the Bobster around,but TFG will always be here.
I think we know how you feel about the Guild split hun.Isla felt that way when i left (even though the circumstances were different,there was still a feeling of being let down.) Good luck to you and Steph in all you do Bob,and come on and say hi now and then eh?

I know what you mean by the quest of starting up your own guild ya it take alot of hard work and time i can remember when i used to play another online game very much like guild wars i was in like 5 guild in the end only coz the guild shut down and every1 had left so i tryed to make my own guild i must of spent around 20mil of ingame gold and i failed not coz i wasnt good enought but become the game was slowly lossin ppl to guild wars or world of war craft so i understand and greatfull to people in this guild for manageing to keep it going and has seen that theres something in me to make me an officer i was shocked when it happened i was expeting it at all i thought i would of had to be in longer mind u i was happy where i was and i am still happy soi thank you for makeing me an officer andyes i fully agree that it is hard to make a guild last aslong as this 1 has being going, as well as all the hard work every1 has put into keepin the guild going i just hope that i can help in keepin the guild up and running as well as doing my part well i gtg need some sleep lol

Not really sure if I can add anything here, but I get where you're coming from. I've been in plenty of guilds where people just joined to get stuff then leave, or have me help on missions and the leave It's annoying and it almost hurts I joined a guild once because I was guilless and they wanted someone to help build their guild, so I joined got promoted within seconds, I was thinking 'well this can't be a good sign' and then they asked me to recruit and that they had to go offline! I thought why spend my cash on YOUR guild when YOU can't be bothered to stay and make it work, they didn't log back on after a couple of days so I left and never heard from them again. And once I joined a guild (promotion in seconds again) and the other officer started on me for not recruiting! I'd been there less than 5 minutes and never asked to be giving the privilige of spending my cash lol, I left that one too. I do like to be nice to people and help where I can (lag permitting) but I can't stand people taking the mick out of my kind nature or anyone elses for that matter.

i think its about finding the right social atmosphere. thats why i like this guild 9 times out of 10 if someones online you get a good chat and the support if you need it.

i not been in a guild that cares as much as this one does and i think its because we are all here to play the game and have fun not to be the highest rank or the best alliance in the game.

I laught at clans/guilds that make others officers just so they get members and dont have to do anything. Its a zomgwtfBBQsaucepwndRoflmaolollerskatesftw guild.

Happend to me once in lineage 2, i gotta say.. i recruited alot of people, leader never got on... eventualy some of my members made a donation and there for i got full leadership. I lead the clan 2 months, we kicked butt and they told me i was "great". Eventualy, after time, old leader came on and told me i stole his clan and started flaming me, he tried getting my members, ect ect ... he failed. Long story in short, he got banned by the gm's of the server ^^ (game masters). Banned for: scamming and language abuse, racism and last but not least, GM impressionating. (or something like that) ^^ he got his butt pwnd rather hard. My clan got disolved few weeks later. As i couldnt be a leader of a clan while i wanted to be a normal member in an other clan.

In other words, some people are just stupid and think they own the world and will not care how they threat others and only, yes only, want all for them selfs.
